Okay, here is a bit of a contrarian view. We are not living in normal times. Communications are significantly hindered by a US administration that will lie and say anything what they think is convenient for them. Carney and his team have to continuously walk on egg shells, to not offend the Trump clan unnecessarily and at the same time stay true to their own values. It is absolutely amazing that they mostly manage to do this.

That there are a few clear mistakes along the way while this nonsense with the US is going on, is entirely expected. Of course it would be better to avoid these, they are unhelpful, but also the best players sometimes drop the ball.

Now, one thing I fully agree with, Carney should do more long interviews, sit downs. I don’t know why they are reluctant to do so. Maybe they look at the polls and see no reason to change the approach.

Blaming the U.S government and the bad orange man for Canadian government massive fails is beyond ridiculous. This is the Carney liberal government bailing out rich developers with Canadian’s tax dollars. No parliamentary oversight or approval. Disgusting.

Evan, your commentary reminds me greatly of the government under MC's predecessor. That government and it's supporters continually rejected all criticism and claimed that those critisims were unfounded and the result of comms problems. Pretty much your argument herein, no?

I agree, they need to fix their comms. However, I was encouraged to see quite a lot of supportive comments on the MC Fbook post on this. So the comms maybe didn't completely flop - I was surprised to see how many thoughtful comments there were from people who understand what's on offer, and clarifying responses to others who tried to tear it apart. Take away - lots more support than I expected to see.

This is not a Comms Catastrophe. This is the Mark Carney liberal government again acting without parliamentary input or approval. They are committing Canadian’s tax dollars to benefit rich developers who overextended themselves and face massive losses due to softening real estate demand. Government should not be bailing out bad business decisions with public money. If this is “building at speeds never seen before” - Canadians want their money back. This is a disgrace.

The only thing more difficult to explain than what the government is trying to do would be to try and explain what the Senators are doing.
