Boy, I hope the rest of the Liberal party is sharper than you've been this week. Carney just demonstrated with the South Route / Robert's bank pipeline decision that the entire Tory whine and cry about Liberal regulations blocking Canadian industrial development was a massive lie. The Robert's Bank/ Trans Mountain solution was known 20 years ago. None of Trudeau's environmental policies ever seriously blocked it. The tanker ban didn't apply to it. If a 893,000 bpd expanded pipe passed all environmental reviews and indigenous consultation requirements, then so would a 1.8 million bpd double pipe on the same route.

The Harper Tories should have realized that and built out Trans Mountain in 2006, but they were too short sighted and incompetent to do it.

The Liberals should be hammering Poilievre and the entire Tory party on their abject failure to get a new pipe done in 2006, when tens of billions was being spent on Oil Sands expansion.

They had 9 years and six months to "get 'er done", and failed miserably to even realize that they needed to do it.

Poilievre does represent the opinion of large numbers of Tories. As such, his claim that if all the Liberal regulations were removed, the economy would boom because private investment would take off. Well, this pipeline deal proves that there is no such private investment. The Liberals should seize on this and hammer on all the Tories, not just Poilievre, to name which regulations, and which private companies are just chomping at the bit to invest. The Tories can't name names because there aren't any. It's obvious that if there were any, Carney and Smith would have found them over the last six months, because they sure were looking hard. I sincerely hope the Liberals hammer the Tories hard on their fraudulent claims and destructive promises. Because Carney has proven that if you want anything done in this country, it takes a Liberal Government to do it.

Who among the likely options, Jivani, Ford, etc speak French? Does Kenney come out of his retirement? Which fomer CPC hacks, Monte Solberg as an eg, would leave their cushy board appointments?

Replacements for PP are not abundant, shall we say.
