There is no leadership without courage and there is no courage without risk.

It's worse than NDP not standing for anything. The problem is most of the NDP are con artists. They're frauds. They're morally and ethically bankrupt. They have no creativity or intelligence. Notley broke AHS by filling it with 3132 bureaucrat fat cat AHS Managers earning $250,000 to $500,000 each pushing paper. Then there are the Union leeches who take in $300,000 for doing absolutely nothing (when they're not abusing their own members). NDP has no vision to "fix healthcare" when they broke it in 2015-2019. NDP despises nurses and doctors, cheering when 1000s of them were being assaulted for not taking the jab. NDP has no vision on green energy, education, etc. NDP candidates are "embarrassed to be in Alberta". Let's be honest, the miracle of NDP even having a shot at winning 37 seats at all, is purely due to a fawning sycophant media that has done everything possible to cover up NDPs failings and scandals. This is a gaggle of incompetents and miscreants who couldn't cut it one day in the real world. And the irony is, you see the exact same thing I do. And it frustrates you. As it should.

Actually, AB NDP are in the midst of an internal battle. Just like Ontario NDP have just been through.

Moderates like Notley are being challenged by Marxist purists and libertarian anarcho-syndicalists.

Purity culture is inspiring radical lefties to nominate radical progressives instead of moderate centre left.

The radicals want all their policies front and centre. Winning is seen as less important than offering the wrong candidates who are handpicked for their talent and experience. Purists prefer grassroots candidates chosen by the grassroots.

Reality has not been possible to break through the cement barrier they’ve installed around their minds.

Notley NDP made mistakes when in office. They pushed purity culture from the left perspective and received huge pushback from the religious far right.

Smith represents the religious far right.

Alberta is so gerrymandered that 15-16% of the Alberta population is all that’s required to secure all 40 rural ridings. Leaving only 4 urban seats to secure to win a majority.

The strategy succeeds when conservatives vote as a block. And when progressive vote is divided. The lack of a centrist liberal party in Alberta means moderates choose between NDP, Greens, Alberta Party and UCP.

Each party carves off what were centre left and centre right Liberal moderate votes.

This is what happens when socialists and far right destroy moderation and liberalism.

Incidentally, World War II was preceded by German National Socialist fascists winning 40% of the popular vote in 1933 after attacking the character of centrists (moderate conservatives) and Social Democrats (Liberalists) for two years. Nazis gained 38% support denigrating their moderate political competition. It grew because German Anarchists and Communists refused to collaborate with Social Democrats and Centrists.

Even though Nazis won the popular vote, they did not win a majority, so the governing party (Social Democrats) was given the opportunity to build a coalition with other parties to form a majority. Unlike the minority governing Liberal party in Canada, the radical left was not interested in avoiding the fascism of Nazis. The German Communist Party (KPD) refused to align with Social Democrats & considered them worse than Nazis.

However, it is the same strategy that’s being used to undermine Canadian moderates (AB NDP & LPC).

UCP has even misappropriated socialist lingo and the language of left populist rhetoric. Along with Poilievre, Smith is positioning herself to be the champion of the blue collar worker by standing up to the tyranny of federal power.

I too share your concern.

Good piece, Evan, though I do think “bankers and lawyers” are a group who the NDP have been actively targeting. Their slate of Calgary candidates is almost custom tailored for that demographic, or as much as it can be for the NDP (whether they will be successful is another question).

What’s your problem with Smith? She’s a fighter for freedom and the private sector. You’re just advocating that the NDP pretend to be something they’re not. They’re all about tax and spend and hiring more public sector workers because that buys them votes. Their unions are over compensated and they brainwash kids by lying to them about the oil and gas sector. Stop hating on Smith. She speaks the truth and loves Alberta.

The Alberta NDP’s whole vibe is the same energy as a Danielle Smith handshake.
