I would be happier if Notley was peaking with only a week to go - unfortunately, two weeks is still plenty of time for voters to scurry back to the mythical comforts of conservatism.
But if UCP ups the crazy - and would anybody be surprised if they did? - and if Notley can keep Singh away from any microphones for the next two weeks, and if Albertans understand how the UCP's poor handling of the forest fires is typical of everything they do, then maybe, just maybe, enough Albertans will realize their best interests really do lie with the Notley this time.
Interesting that Abacus Data doesn’t mention that their survey was online, which in this instance may skew the results given the urban/rural differences in support for UCP. They refer to panels and those familiar with Lucid opt-in panels know that the survey was self-administered on a computer, smartphone, etc. but this could introduce significant measurement error. Also note the unweighted sample outside Edmonton/Calgary was underrepresented, which may be a function of the online sample.
Nice to think NDP will prevail but the data have an asterisk.
Yep. The campaign is now about if you can trust smith or not and if she is competent enough to be premier. She had an opportunity with the wildfires to reinvent herself but her campaign team blew it. They have been to focused on the opposition instead of selling smith. If the UCP loses this might be something they mention in their post mortem. I don’t expect a knockout blow from Notley at the debate but I suspect the debate will reinforce people’s opinions about Notley and Smith.
The NDP needs to win, for the sake of the youth and democracy. Rachel is what I call a real politician. When citizens don’t vote, when some men refuse to stand behind a woman, then add women born in the male chauvinism years it’s unbelievable that UPC citizens would let that junk party continue.
I’ve seen so much mud thrown at Rachel, I’ve seen men with pictures of her legs and disgracing them, UPC citizens are destroying Alberta because of their small energy dic’s that, like Sask do any critical thinking if their lives depended on it. Plus we need to make voting comfortable for all races. We are becoming more diverse yet races don’t vote bc of the attitudes white people give off. It’s the capitalists and uneducated people voting. What I don’t understand is how the rural thinks these rcons are about farming when farmers forgot who will change their diapers later on in life. Farmers willing to watch women in their family die of cancer. Who will let their children wait in line for health help like cancer.
It’s the greedy, uninformed, selfish, people with no critical thinking skills that are voting conservative (yes lead on by anger and fear)
Seniors rely on media otherwise they have no other way of knowing. How do those people even have a chance to hear other parties speak? Other parties have to do videos on social media to get their word out. We make voting easy for white people but not for our diverse population.
A party like UPC/reformed conservatives have to use dirty tactics and control all media to manipulate people. I call Rcons cowards, desperate, unschooled, arrogant, bullies, that are picking two groups of people/workers as voters, to manipulate them that they care about them. UPC/rcons know who their voters are they cater to the non critical thinkers.
It’s like flashing money in front of their voters or the religious fanatics and their voters with robotic eyes can’t think past that 100 dollar bill. Just wait until nurses/home care aids extra have to change their diapers or wash them down. Women don’t forgot who’s mean to them. The voters online who disgrace themselves will get karma in later years in a home. Does any UPC/rcon politician not think of the future? Or think they won’t get old? Or not suffer from illness? I wish people would get over that hump that women can’t do a better job, or vote male chauvinism party just because they are white or a woman.
As for Danielle she embarrasses our gender, I seriously have a hard time looking at her as a human being. She degrades women and gives our educated women a bad name. Women like her, give female politicians a bad name. Rachel is a good politician and most men few women need to suck it up. Look past the gender and choose the better person. Alberta is so lucky to have Rachel, I love politics, live and breathe politics. But too many people don’t pay attention and let their dic’s lead instead of their brains. Remind them no one sees who’s check mark you voted for.
I personally think these politicians who had parents in politics are qualified enough to understand what it means. Yet voters make it about money then experience.

Mainstreet’s data also points to the ABNDP in or around majority territory if an election was held today if you ignore the wonky Edmonton sample.

Sorry for the few mistakes, I wish they allowed a edit
I can edit my comments. It’s under the … options
Ok thanks
The only way the NDP could win an Alberta Election:
A. There are two strong right wing parties to split the conservative vote.
B. The leader of the right wing party is batshit crazy.
C. her supporters are too busy fighting wild fires caused by climate change to vote for her.
D. Both B and C.
E. Did you forget, this is Alberta.
