Thank you Evan, for clarity on such a polarizing issue. I studied and worked in Quebec, and am a strong supporter that My Canada includes Quebec. I do not believe that most of the population would support Bill21, if there was education around the meaning and fallout that can occur with such legislation. The Charter exists to protect all minorities.
So very well said Evan. We need someone to call out the politicians who would use racism and hate to build their political support, that very action should result in their being banned from public office, or even from running for office.
Well said, and I hope to hear it more of the same message from Quebeckers. This is comparable to those supporters of the Israeli government who claim that anyone criticizing the actions of that government is an antisemite. Interestingly, the word antisemite was adopted for the purpose of associating Jews with Muslims and thus reinforcing Christian prejudice and hatred against both groups.
I love this! I spent my second and third decades in Montreal, and moved (reluctantly) to Ontario in 1979. It's been so sad to see what Quebec has become over the decades.
I do live in Quebec, and every discussion I have with a supporter of Bill 21 seems to end with them making disparaging remarks about Muslims - old Catholic prejudices from the mouths of people who claim to be secular.
I live in Quebec as well, part of the time, just a few hundred metres from the school where the teacher was taken out of the classroom for wearing a hijab. No serious protest in that community, except for a few dozen (mostly) Anglos. The CAQ candidate cruised to re-election.

" I never lived in Quebec but let me explain to you how they think " hahaha incroyable

What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.
