Just like the outcome of the Leafs-Sens series seems to be set, the overall outcome of the election appears to be set as well. Now we are at questions regarding the size of the majority. Does Poilievre manage to keep his seat? Do the Liberals gain significant seats in Alberta and perhaps even Saskatchewan (why is Poilievre campaigning there?)? Do the Senators at least win one game?
One more thought regarding the length of the campaign. Poilievre has been campaigning for over 2 years. Rally, after rally. Look at the crowd sizes. But no sit down interview with major TV station or newspaper. No attempt whatsoever to find some basis for collaboration with provincial conservatives. And now in the final weeks of this 2 1/2 year campaign people are just as tired of him as they were of Trudeau after almost 10 years in office.
Trudeau made an effort to maintain civility and reason, and obviously had the greater good in mind, i.e. he was a "good-faith actor," despite what was truly relentless harassment from the asshole cons (Boilievre in particular of course) and his marriage/family breaking up.
He also demonstrably attracted the best and the brightest to join him, very much including Carney, many of whom remain.
He had the air of martyrdom about him though that may have come from his unusual upbringing, (or fucking Catholicism which his father finally renounced near the end of his life) but he was also very much a pugilist, and really wanted to take PP down.
The fact that he was to the manor/manner born carried him through what had to have been some tortuous times, and like his father, he still looked after himself (something you need to try Evan btw) AND always made us look good abroad.
Imagine any of the cons at a G7 or meeting with the EU when they're so bush league; it's mortifying to contemplate.
Manning's BS "Reform" party hasn't gone anywhere since Harper; they're still a bunch of ham-fisted, religious rubes with a hidden agenda and like TWO ideas.
Fuck them and kick them to the curb where they belong.
You make a good point about how long this "campaign" has been going on; it's true.
No wonder we all feel so exhausted when lying/misinformation/disinformation has become so easily normalized; it feels like one, long detestable, stupid ad that you can't get away from.
Because the cacophony of social media is such a central part of this whole sea change, so I was encouraged by a report on CBC that young people are finally starting to back away from it, maybe in part as a result of the big tech bros declaring their complicity by lining up with dumb Donald.
Also, finding out just HOW MANY people are just fine with all the enduring but entirely false premises in play has been truly dispiriting; it's the same weariness arising from proximity to any cult/religion.
I think he might stay and go full attack dog on Carney as much as possible, especially in a minority situation. If it is an overwhelming red wave, he'll likely be forced out. Will depend on the seat numbers and if he wins his seat.
Evan, your posts/pieces are the ones I most eagerly look forward to. Your humour makes me grin, and your insight calms my anxieties for another day. That's really valuable to me. Keep on keeping on man.
Be curious to hear from Evan or anyone else, a lot of the models have the Liberals bleeding seats down below the 190’s, yet all we’re hearing is that the internal polling in Ontario is worse for the CPC than the publicly available data. This seems born out by Pierre’s schedule. Now the media seems to be going full Liberal majority. Is this noise or what gives?
I, too look forward to your posts. I never paid much attention to politics until this election. Now I wish I had gotten into political commentary for a career. But Evan. Take care of yourself.

Yeah, I'm so sick of Poilievre and hope he loses his seat so I never see him again.
He thought getting rid of the "Milhouse" look but nothing can remove the bitterness and pettiness, so let's remove him!

If the Liberals win a majority, does PP resign? I think he has no choice, but if there's a civil war, pass the popcorn!

Agreed, plus I really appreciate the swearing, being a farm girl and all....
Love the swearing

Evan, be well.
I'm sure the Sens will do grear Saturday.
Let's get out and vote and hope and make sure Pierre Poiliwvre, Stephrbs Taylor and Harper are footnotes benearh a fine Liberal run.
Live long and prosper!
My issue is that the CP may be getting too many seats even as the opposition
Like, why? 🙄
They are stuck in the past and would be nowhere without C Proud, Rebel, etc.
Your work is fantastic Evan! I am so sorry to read about your mental health struggles.
