Just want to say "thanks" for your writing throughout this campaign. I know it's driving you insane through boredom and doubling as an impromptu therapist for the perpetually online, but you've been a refreshingly intelligent and level-headed voice cutting through the noise while everyone panics over... polls suggesting we'll win by normal amounts as opposed to North Korea-support amounts.

Stephen J. Harper was PM from 2006-2015. Funny how when advice from Mark Carney during the 2008 "housing" crisis (well, debt derivatives -- nothing related to the current housing crisis) was mentioned it was forgotten that the advice was to Harper and not Justin Trudeau.

Harper may have been from the Reform branch of the Canadian conservative movement, but he was NEVER as hyper-partisan as Pierre Poilievre who has been a Reform partisan since he was 16 and has never demonstrated an interest in Canadian politics outside the Reform movement.

The hyper-partisan gerrymandering of dates that PP does suggest to me that he is incapable of being the Prime Minister of Canada, only the leader of the Reform movement.

It felt like there were two national leaders on the stage (Carney and Singh) and two regional leaders (Make Alberta Great Again with Poilievre, Make Quebec Great Again with Blanchet).

I bet US MAGA folks were loving hearing Poilievre and Blanchet argue about whether pipelines should be unilaterally pushed through communities/provinces by the federal government or not. They claimed to be arguing with Carney, but it is obvious that Poilievre and Blanchet represent two extremes that can't be easily reconcilled.

I'm aware that the Bloc largely formed by Progressive Conservatives crossing the floor, but it is clear that Reform is an entirely different type of conservative.

It’s worth counting - how many times ‘in total’ as well as % of his Gaseous Emissions included the phrase ‘ten years of - ‘fill in the insult’ ..

Don’t know about anyone else, but the security clearance shit is important to me. PP’s excuse for refusing a security clearance makes no sense — especially when he and his party were often the driving force behind wanting multiple hearings and investigations. Yet he refuses to obtain the clearance that’d enable him to see all the top secret documents and evidence?

It is a concern as mine as well. What is he hiding? Why is he refusing? It makes no sense for him to refuse to get one.

The other three are spending so much time yapping at Carney, I'm getting nothing from them. They are coming across as whiny kids, and he looks like the adult in the room, patiently waiting for them to stop so he can calmly explain how the world really works.

I would say the biggest security threat is Pollievre not having a security clearance

Yet we now know the identity of the 9 compromised Liberal MPs thanks to the RCMP whistleblower. 😉

I’m with you on both Blanchet. He’s a dick. My Canada includes Quebec, full stop. Love Quebec, but this is a FEDERAL election for a NATIONAL government. Contribute or get TF outta the way. I’m loving Singh hounding PP! Hoping PP blows his gasket and I think he’s close…

You “love” Quebec, yet you trash Quebecers democratically elected federal leader? Blanchet is probably the most effective politician on the debate stage. His mandate is to defend Quebec’s interests in a strong Canada, and he does it very well.

Policy that emphasizes crime enforcement is expensive. Reform needs to clean up sentencing laws. Do you hear how many times PP says Mass Murderer? How many are there in Canada?

And Mass Murders are usually designated as Dangerous Offenders under the law and will never be allowed out of prison.

I see the “Carney’s wins” prediction, and a tie is as good as a win. I am looking for a repeat in English of “you are just like Trudeau” followed by “you are just like Trump”.
