Stop!

Stop taking a Fife torqued article seriously. Read the Globe and Mail article again and understand how a Fife torqued article works.

3/4 of the article covers statements by Conservatives that they believe the Prime Minister wants the change the Finance Minister. These statements are predictable, but do not tell us anything.

1/4 of the article is about 3 anonymous sources around the PMO. One says no offer has been made to Carney, the other two believe that Carney would only be interested in the Finance Minister job. These two don’t say that such an offer has been made.

Conclusion: the PMO may have had a conversation with Carney about a role, but no offer has been made at all. Why the f$&k is the press harassing Freeland about Carney taking her job?

This is how a Fife torqued article works. It has no informative value, it is solely intended to make life difficult for the government.

Jesus Evan, if I wanted to read the National Post, I'd get a subscription.

With this article and your last one, praising Bonnie Crombie who has "underperformed" I may start reading Andrew Coyne for accuracy.

Goodness ** Surely politics needs to get seriously focussed on Policy and not gossip. Is gossip reinforced by 'social media' or does the standard of discourse guide social media? Where are the editors?

Currently, the main stressor in the world is financial and this is only exacerbated by continued neoclassical monetary Policy. It's predictable economies are headed for a crash (as in 07&08) as similar conditions are apparent. Given the latest political decisions (taunts) by the US president elect, perhaps this coming crash will be even more devastating?

I disagree with your take.

Minister Freeland has served as a very needed foil to a government seemingly on its last legs capitulating to the populist themes of an oppositional defiant CPC at the expense of her attempts to control spending. To me, it's a sign of a mature government that has conflicts between what needs to be done and what we can afford. I am struck by the parallels between the selling off Air Canada stocks by this government and the Harper government's cashing in GM stocks just prior to a financial statement. Both are to make the books look a bit better.

The difference is in what each government spent the monies on. Pharmacare, daycare and Defence seem like really necessary investments to me.
