I have voted Conservative my entire life. Pierre and team made it easy to not do that this time. I do not recognize that party at all. I can't believe even after their election loss they have not cut this cancerous sore out of the party.
Byrne and Poilievre are made of the cloth. They are motivated to a large extent by a hatred for anything Liberal. It is more important for them that the Liberals lose, than that the Conservatives win. In their minds Conservatives can never agree with the Liberals, regardless of the actual position, because the Liberal opinion can never be the Conservative opinion.
In this mindset Conservative MPs were not allowed to be friendly with Liberal MPs. If Byrne/Poilievre staff saw their MPs interact with Liberals MPs, there would be consequences. Now that Poilievre is temporarily out of the caucus picture, I was pleased to see Melissa Lantsman yesterday walking down Sparks Street together with a bunch of Liberal MPs and having clearly a good time.
The more congenial Conservatives put up with Byrne and Poilievre while polling numbers were good. If Poilievre keeps dropping support, he will not make it to the leadership review in January next year.
PS Byrne deleted her tweet. She typically does not do so, her typical response is to double down.
I voted conservative once again in this election -- primarily because I didn't trust that Carney would actually switch the liberal brand and strategy from what we saw in the last decade. So far, he has done precisely that and has been an extremely impressive Prime Minister. And to be honest, if there is another election in the next two years and Carney continues to look more like a PC than Liberal and the Conservatives change absolutely nothing, I might actually vote Liberal for the first time in my life. I know many other conservatives who will do the exact same thing.
I guess I'm not the typical dyed-in-blue Conservative voter, as I've been calling on Bryne to be fired since at least 2022 (I have never gotten over how she treated O'Toole in 2021). But after an election loss that was this bad, where she failed to adjust to clear realities and barely avoided a Liberal majority, she should've been gone on April 29. The fact that the party fails to actually act on this is concerning, and their hubris will cause the Liberals to win another majority.
Good comment, but perhaps you're too hard on yourself on labelling yourself an asshole. Mildly overwrought and self-aggrandizing, perhaps, but not really asshole-ish.
That said, not sure what an earlier review can accomplish if the party is as locked in behind Poilievre as they state, the worst that can happen is Jenni finally walks the plank.
Evan, I have an idea for you. Seriously. Take that prodigious brain of yours and that rage and look at the following. Trump wants Canada. The more successful we are, the more business we do elsewhere, the less dependent we become, the more likely the USA is to try to destabilize us, cause a "regime change" a la Iran. Would anyone be surprised if, in addition to the Russians and Chinese, the CIA is busy here in Canada (probably Alberta) looking for the cracks wedges into? You got anything on this? I hope someone is seriously looking at it cuz it must be happening.

Kory Teneycke as campaign manager, oooh boy.
What? A tweet? She actually found the time from raking animal shelter cat litter boxes looking for the tastiest of treats?
Lesser political careers have been rescued from lower levels I'm sure......
She deleted the tweet - finally.
Just not someone who should be running a competitive or challenging race. (She can front-run with the best, I guess.)
