Fair points. To what degree, in your opinion, has a staunch love of Canada been a prominent and consistent theme in Trudeau’s rhetoric up to now? His most famous comment to this effect was probably the ‘post national state’ claim, hardly an inspiring vision of unified nationhood. Is this something he is pulling out in crisis (the last refuge of the desperate politician), or was this speech of a piece with what he’s radiated all along?

Yes Trudeau needs to step aside and I don’t know why he dropped her in the way he did. I understand her resignation I support her, but I don’t like the way she did it.it is really harming the country. I’m not taking the blame off of Trudeau, but the way she resigned wasn’t country first.

It isn't Trudeau per se, but the entire governing philosophy that embraces weak sauce liberalism (tax cuts, subsidies, ineffectual programs managed by the provinces, and identity politics), while ignoring exigent problems. Most people before COVID were only a couple paychecks away from ruin. Add the current cost-of-living crisis, housing crisis, job quality crisis, healthcare crisis, immigration soaking up low pay jobs, and an economy predicated on monopolies, oligopolies, and rigged markets (read Denise Hearn's book "The Big Fix") and there is nothing these dunderheads can do to win.

The legacy media, including the Toronto Star, are just a plutocrat mouthpiece these days (ex. supporting Mob Ford and John "banging my staff" Tory). Add in CBC's capitulation and Postmedia propaganda and purposeful right wing blather, and there is little public support -outside peripheral social media- for the Liberals.

I don't accept the conceit that PP is not a lethal toxin. Harper attacked science, Stats Canada, refused to work with the provinces, and undercut women's rights and offices. That is the baseline for a future Con administration. With a supermajority, PP packs the courts, packs the Senate, changes the constitution, then lets his little minions in the provinces run loose on privatization and corporatization. Already, Trudeau has let Mob Ford do extraordinary damage; because he either agrees with him or doesn't know how to fight (sunny days is for losers). Under no holds barred proto-fascism, Alberta, Quebec, and Mob run Ontario all run amok; no doubt crippling or crashing Canada. PP is an low intellect crook representing foreign interests and illiberal plutocrats. It is delusional to think he's somehow going to be Kim Campbell (who BTW denounced him).

This is a vision thing. The Liberals have none. Just a dude jumping around at parades selling the drama, while having zero ambitions to create a functional post-O&G economy predicated on science, technological innovation, and entrepreneurship. We're in the 21st C. and the majority of the provinces get by on resource extraction! South Korea was in the stone age after hostilities ended in 1953. Today, we send beef to them, while they send us their semiconductors, electronics, cars, and manufactured goods.

A nation of mediocre losers.

PP doesn’t have the wherewithal to lead a country. It’s not him who concerns me.

It’s Harper’s strings that do.
