Increasing the deficit and debt through a hastily produced plan really hurts small business, the backbone of the backbone of the economy. The amount of work for point-of-sale computing changes both pre December 14 and post February 15th is an enormous process and expense to the businesses that create employment. Unfortunately I don't see any one party that has the leadership to work through the tough times we are about to go through in many areas. However, Canadians are looking for a change and we can only hope that sage advisors, excellent communication and sound fiscal management are corner stones of the next government.
I would agree, that was a stupid thing Melanie Joly said, and an odd thing that Chrystia Freeland said, etc. etc. but 'twas ever thus; people are a fractious, restless bunch, nothing if not relentlessly fucking weird, and you will only ever genuinely click with a few, until you don't....
Think of the Liberals as being greater than the sum of their parts.
But don't despair. Trump will manifest soon with what may be his last, pent-up and so even more toxic head of steam and it will be ugly, especially the deportation stuff; hard not to imagine some truly shocking violence like on Jan. 6th, this time with guns, and there hasn't been an assassination for a while. And what might Elon Musk do? I heard on CBC last night that there are thousands of satellites in space right now, and he owns almost half of them, which was disconcerting.
Poilievre is looking more and more out of his depth every day, and more and more the tough-talking bully who's just a nasty coward who's on the wrong side of it all.
To be fair to Freeland, her Disney+ comments were not meant to equate her personal family circumstances with those of most Canadians, but rather she was trying to compare household fiscal discipline to national budget discipline. Not that the Liberals look great on that file at all anyways...
As a former Canadian Ambassador myself, I would love to know more about Minister Jolie’s thinking about appointing Ambassadors being “colonial.” Would you please give me a reference? Google so far has let me down.

Canadians don't want to be "grin fucked" anymore. They got enough of that with the Liberals.

They're all just really, really tired.
Trump 1.0 and then Covid burnt them out.
It's that simple and inevitable.
Unfortunately, Poilievre is the guy waiting in the wings, and his team will be even less competent.
Perhaps new energy and younger politicians will rise from the Lib ashes.
The next electoral cycle will be better!
