I have been following you for awhile, and typically agree with you assessments of issues and politicians, but I must disagree with your disparaging response to Gould's proposal for a UBI program. Many pilot programs and studies, in Canada and in the U.S. prove that such a program works to truly support and empower individuals and communities. If we are ALL to be able to buy Canadian, shop local, support Canadian businesses and investment in Canada, thus to win this economic war being waged on us by the Trump administration, then all Canadians have to be able to afford it. We have to be able to afford to shop at the local store, instead of Walmart, for example. UBI, coupled with a legislated minimum wage that is at least a living wage are the best tools we have, to thrive economically. Investing in individuals' income puts the money right back into the local, the regional, and ultimately into the national economy - it is circular, rather than dead-ending into the pockets of ( primarily U.S.) shareholders.
