As long as Donald Trump is creating chaos and is attacking Canada economically, the voters will not care about austerity, the deficit or the size of the civil service. As the 35% letter of tonight shows, we will have to deal with Trump for some time to come. And in the meantime, Carney has a massive amount of political capital to do whatever that he believes is required.
