He doesn't care. He has no intention of keeping half his promises. What he will do is pop out that notwithstanding clause for every little thing he can, introduce another elections act that stifles progressive votes and sell off everything Harper hadn't had time to sell. He's here to finish Harper's agenda. Nothing more. Look at Doug Ford. Total shitshow and yet won another election. As much as I hate to day it the "anti-woke" agenda is playing very well in Canada. Alberta will cut off its own nose to spite its face instead of voting anything but Conservative. Saskatchewan voted in a drunk that promises everything and delivers nothing but Moe got reelected. There's a part of Canada's population that just loves the unbridled hatred and spewing venom that Trump made popular and it shocked me honestly. If Poilievre gets in Canada will be exactly what Harper promised "unrecognizable".
I think the conservatives did a strategic mistake to make so many costly commitments before Trump tariffs on April 2nd. Just today car tariffs announcement, if they go ahead as announced (we know Trump can change his mind multiple times a day), it would have a substantial negative impact on the Canadian economy, especially on Ontario, and make PP’s financial plan to collapse.
Sometimes it is really hard to understand the strategic thinking skills of the Conservatives. The whole situation with Trump gives them a massive opening to drop a number of dogmatic self imposed constraints. It would not be hard to say that it impossible to promise a balanced budget while Trump is in the White House. Nobody would fault any politician that admits this reality.
But Poilievre is a one dimensional politician and cannot change on these issues.
How can anyone even consider voting for the Liberals Carney has to be the biggest con man ever to walk the earth! Keep writing your negative crap on the Conservatives. Alberta and Saskatchewan will not continue putting up with the rest of Canada it’s only a matter of time!
A fine column illustrating the complexity of budget balancing in conflict with ideology and financial limitations. Although making a promise to balance the budget is foolish, one must remember that Canada has the 2nd lowest economic growth, over the last number of years and the national debt has exploded as productivity and investment have both declined in the nation. Both major parties can't realistically balance the budget, but can begin that process with a focus on increasing productivity and investment across the country. With the Trumpian dynasty on the move, our nation's political parties need to work together to change our economic fortunes and present a realistic approach for Canadians to understand.

In regards to Poilievre some facts are starting to come out.
He's very closely connected to a number of criminals.
In Saskatchewan Scott Moe lost half his seats to the NDP.
It's the rural commercial agriculture companies and oil workers along with money from billionaires that voted him in.
Moe also has a strong propaganda network from reporters to Harvard Communications radio and Patterson billboards.
He has the funding for that
Moe also did a good job of burying his 3 DUIs and the death of the woman he ki**ed.
There are still people unaware of it.
Shortly before the election over 20 of his cabinet ministers were charged with numerous crimes.
It is likely the Sask Party will change leaders within the next two years about a year before the next election so that there's a fresh face.
It's what Brad Wall did.
He's losing his hold on the province.

You must be saying some very accurate things, judging by the attention you are attracting from the Trolls!
Keep up the good work!🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

So 10 years of “The budget will balance itself”, except it never did - now matters?
How is Mark Carney coming up with the $2 billion he tossed out today in Windsor? 🤔
I thought I had blocked you
