The radio today was using $2,000 per Canadian as the annual cost of new united states tariffs ( I don't blindly accept that #, but it really helped me read and accept your logic ).

$2,000 to low income earners - problematic.

As incomes rise, $2,000 becomes less of an issue.

And " lower taxes for all " is therefore not the answer.

I cringe every time the current conservative lot referred to as Tories. They are reformers first with religious overtones, and are Conservative only because of Peter MacKay’s sellout. It’s the same as sticking a Mercedes sticker on my Ford Tempo and calling it a high end, quality car. When it comes to the CPC folks, be sure you look under the hood!

Listening to Poilievre right now and it's enough to make me gag. He's not a MAGA, Trump doesn't like him. Tax cuts for everyone. What an opportunist. This is a campaign event for him not a serious, united response to tariffs.

Poilievre’s response to everything is cutting taxes. Preferably the carbon tax. Does not matter what the problem is. Cutting taxes is the answer. Always.

Unfortunately we are dealing with a president who does not only create his own facts, he also invents his own economic theories. It is impossible to negotiate with a person like that. The only way is for the American public to feel as much pain as possible, and soon as possible. Therefore Canada’s response (ideally coordinated with Mexico) needs to immediate and forceful.

Regarding the Liberal leadership race and the elections that will likely follow, it is not hard to see who people prefer in this situation. All Carney has to do is point out that it is not so simple as giving everybody a tax cut and he will have won both elections.

Agree PP is taking a simplistic approach and it’s inadequate. First party to commit to helping all impacted workers by the tariffs will have a huge first mover advantage this election. Deficits be damned.

Algoma-Manitoulin.

Whether Ford comes through or not, he's got the talk right today (March 4), saying revenues Ontario might get from punitive measures would go to help workers and industries hit by U.S,. tariffs.

PP is so out of touch with - everything. The world has changed and continues to change at a concerning more rapid pace. Canada needs to focus on Canada and not pine for the past relationship with the US. As a country, we have resources and smarts. It's time we worked together as a country and started to innovate products and solutions, produce products for Canadians and for export to the EU (& others) and protect our borders and sovereignty through investment in our military. There is ZERO reasons for instance that we have internal trade barriers between provinces. Let's fix that. We have capability and resources to manufacture products for Canadians and export. Let's invest more in our education system, healthcare, technology, construction, transportation etc. We should be focussed on port Churchill as the arctic water melt (as the government of MB is doing).

PP has been hiding out in on Parliament Hill for his entire adult life and really has ZERO life experience within Canada never mind on a global level.
