As a Liberal with a diagnosed anxiety disorder, I really appreciate being able to follow the election by just listening to someone who keeps screaming at me to calm the fuck down.
Thanks for keeping us informed and for sharing your analysis, Evan. In an election campaign characterized by an age of disinformation, was great to have you as a central source to turn to for updates.
This platform easily outlapped others in the space in terms of quality and volume of content, while publishing everything for free - so many others with paywalled, subscriber only platforms weren't even close. I subscribed for this election coverage, but will probably stay on for some time to continue supporting, and hope others do as well.
Hopefully it doesn't shape up to be too long of an evening, but in any case, hope you are able to take a solid break following the results.
Trying not to watch as I know it will be really early small town Atlantic Canadian votes and likely not the advance votes that favour the Liberals. I have to pace myself!!
Okay, breaking my own rule regarding 30% of the polls reporting before commenting.
Bruce Fanjoy is leading by 1700 with 12 of the 266 polls. Total votes around 9000. That would indicate that most of the polls are regular and not advance. I believe there 10 advance polls, with 44,000 you would need to see jumps of 4000 votes for a single poll. Most regular polls are around 400 to 600 votes.
So maybe the advance polls are still to come in Carleton…
oops Election Canada having web site issues... I was going to add the link for the Advanced Poll data which shows by riding.. this might help calm people down.
Compared to when I follow US elections not having the data on where in a riding the results are coming from makes it maddeningly harder to know how representative early returns are.
It's alright. He wasn't on for long on CBC, and ducked out long before they called it for the Liberals. I expect he's trying to figure out what his furniture would look like in Stornoway.
Evan, thanks a million for your writing throughout this campaign. Insightful, funny and grounding. I'll be making a contribution to the Scrimshaw Crown Reserve once this week's paycheque hits.
Incidentally, I chatted with some people doing E-day canvassing in Toronto. It was the most solidly red day they've had at the doors the entire campaign, and they were greeted by very motivated, fired up voters. I know it's Toronto, but I'm hoping that enthusiasm is reflective of the Liberal electorate across the country.

CBC did say that advance votes have NOT been counted

I agree- David Cochrane is great in his role!
Sean Fraser re-elected.
I used to work with Anita and she's lovely!!! 💕 Glad that she ran in this election.

A pure chaos outcome is minority LPC government with Poilievre losing his seat, honestly
The Elections Canada site said that they were starting vote counting early 6 hours prior to the poll close.
Yes, maybe one or two of the advance polls are in the mix, but not all of them (44,000 votes).
Kory Tenycke was right. Jenny Byrne was wrong, and maybe, just maybe, the knives are coming out for Pierre.
And as I wrote this, first results for Carleton come in and Fanjoy is beating Poilievre by 200 votes. 😂
Drunk or not you’re still the best, man.

It's only been 37 minutes and Evan is already at the edge of the Deep end
We should just all agree to ignore riding results until we have something like 30% of the polls reporting.
Ugh the ctv panel setting is horrible changed for a minute as cbc doing bloc panel
Also not wild they put Kenney on
Evan can you explain what you mean about Australia?
